Sea turtle monitoring

The sea turtle monitoring is organized by Associação para Investigação Costeira e Marinha (AICM). The project covers a large area of the Mozambique coastline and aims to identify hotspots for sea turtle nesting and protection.

During the sea turtle nesting season four locals working as monitors walking from 5 to 7 Kms to patrol the beach. Any sign of track and/or nest is pointed out.

We collaborate with the project by providing supervision of the monitors and getting GPS data of all observed turtle vestige. We also participate weekly on patrol.
